Mission Statement
PNAGSL is a professional, educational, charitable non sectarian and non profit organization that will uphold the image and foster the welfare of Filipino-American nurses in the greater St. Louis area.
PNAGSL History
Founded since 1991. It is one of the 55 chapters of the Philippine Nurses Association of America, Inc. throughout the nation. It is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that promotes professional, educational, cultural and civic activities to unify Filipino-American nurses.
1991: As advised by Ching Ongjoco to Didi Calabio and Lily Cayabyab, plans were underway to form an organization in the nursing profession in the Greater St. Louis area.
1992: May 2, general membership meeting with 25 nurses and recruitment processed.
1992-1993: Didi Calabio, co-founder, 1st PNAGSL President.
1993-1994: Lily Cayabyab, co-founder, 2nd President. Through Lily, PNAGSL connected with PNAA and our organization officially became a PNAA chapter member in July 1994 in San Antonio, Texas.
1994-1996: It was Jean Reyes’ presidency that the officers’ term was made to two years. To date, PNAGSL has remained active in its collaboration with NCR (regional) and PNAA (national). With heartfelt gratitude to our PNAGSL family and loyal supporters as we persevere in achieving our mission and vision.
